The growing phrase
Each phrase is two notes longer than the last, so the breath has to last a little longer every time. It trains breath, memory and pitch together.
How to do it
- A full, low breath in every rest.
- The last phrase in one breath.
- Keep the end of each phrase as strong as the start.
Remember Strong to the last note.

More breath
Farinelli breathing
Equal counts in, hold and out, getting longer each round.
Hiss and suspend
A thin, steady "sss" shows at once whether the air is even.
Breath pulses: S and SH
Short, sharp pulses on S wake up the muscles of the belly that support the voice; long S and SH test the steadiness in between..
